The TIA-B hosts have a variety of qualification schemes and systems in place. TIA-B hosts seek to increase the value of such schemes by recognising other qualifications rather than developing competing solutions.

BICSI is currently undertaking a revision of its qualification system (to be completed in 2008). This programme has the generic name "NxtGEN".

TIA-B is working with BICSI to ensure that the national standards are mapped into the content of any training leading to the basic qualifications in the NxtGEN programme.
